The Centaur - Joanne Glasscock

On that hill a centaur stands, half stallion, half man,
and his hoofs are the hoofs of a stallion,and his strength, it's the strength of a stallion,
and his pride, the pride of a stallion. But his tears are the tears of a man.
저기 저 언덕 위에 한 마리 쎈토가 서 있네. 반 하체는 종마(種馬), 반 상체는 인간
그의 발굽은 종마 발굽에 그의 힘은 종마의 힘에
또한 그의 자부심은 종마의 자부심을 가졌지만 그가 흘리는 눈물만은 인간의 눈물이라네.

Over the hill the centaur goes,round the mountain and back again,
a little too far from the world of dreams,and just beyond the world of a man.
저기 저 언덕 위에 쎈토가 가고 있네. 산 등성이를 돌고 돌아서 다시 제 자리로.
이상의 세계로부터는 조금 멀리 떨어져 있지만, 사람들이 살고 있는 세상 바로 저 건너편에 있는 그 곳.

Once the centaur loved a mare who rode beside him everywhere,
They were racing,chasing cross the fields,the centaur and the wild mare.
한 때 쎈토는 한 마리의 암말을 사랑했다네.언제나 어디서나 그의 곁에서 달리곤 했었지
그들은 함께 경주하며 때로는들판을 가로지르며 서로 따라잡고 그랬다네
센토와 그 야생 암말 둘이서 함께 말이지

But with the racing and chasing done,they stood silent and silent there.
But the centaur, he had words to say.But the mare had only the soul of a mare.
하지만, 서로 함께 한 경주와 따라잡기가 끝나고 나면그들은 서로 침묵만 지키며 조용히 서 있었지
쎈토에게는 하고 싶은 말이 많았지, 그러나 그 암말은 말을 할 줄 모르기에
그저 암말의 영혼만을 가지고 있었을 뿐이었다네.

이상의 세계로부터는 조금 멀리 떨어져 있지만, 사람들이 살고 있는 세상 바로 저 건너편에 있는 그 곳.

Once the centaur loved a girlwho saw his golden aspiration.
They were walking, whispering through the woods, the centaur and the lovely girl.
한 때 쎈토는 그의 황금빛 큰 뜻을 알아주는 한 소녀를 사랑했었다네.
쎈토와 그 사랑스런 소녀는 숲속을 산책하며 서로 속삭이기도 하였지.

But with the walking and whispering done, they stood silent, and then they cried.
For the centaur felt the stirring breeze,He needed someone who could ride by his side.
하지만 산책과 속삭임이 다 끝났을 땐, 그들은 침묵을 지키며 서 있다가
끝내는 울음을 터뜨리고 말았다네. 왜냐하면 쎈토는 살랑거리는 산들바람이 그에게 불어오자
그의 곁에서 함께 달릴 수 있는 누군가를 필요로 했기 때문이지.

Over the hill, climbing the mountainand back again, not a quite reaching
his world of dreams, and still beyond the world of a man. on that hill a centaur stands.
저 언덕 위로 센토는 산을 올랐다가 다시 내려오고 있네 그가 꿈꾸는 이상의 세계로
결코 다가갈 수 없는, 여전히 사람들이 살고 있는 세상 바로 저 건너편에 있는 그 곳.
바로 그 언덕에 한 마리 쎈토가 서 있다네
